Bishop Ceacer Gooding

Bishop Ceacer Gooding was born on September 18, 1931 to the late Reverend Usher and Mother Lula Gooding in Kinston, North Carolina. He was the second child of five children who received his formal education in Kin-ston N.C. and after relocating to New York City, he attended Manhattan Bible Institute.

He married his lovely wife, Josephine Ward of Brooklyn, N.Y. on November 29, 1952. The Lord blessed them with four children JoAnn, Ceacer Jr., Chanel and Jay.

Bishop Gooding served his country in the United States Army and was later employed by the United States Postal Service.

On April 14, 1958, Minister Ceacer Gooding was ordained as an Elder by Bishop O.M. Kelly at Washington Temple COGIC and in 1959 Elder Gooding served faithfully as the Junior Pastor and as the Assistant Pastor of the Gospel Temple Church of America in New York City under that leadership of the late Bishop Benjamin Broadie.

Bishop Gooding was installed as Pastor of Gospel Temple Church of America on May 9, 1965 and served tire-lessly for the next four years.

On June 1, 1969, Bishop Gooding along with his wife, Evangelist Josephine Gooding founded Miracle Revival Center Church which was located at 2098 Amsterdam Avenue in Harlem, N.Y. but because of the their grow-ing membership relocated to it’s present church edifice at 1555 Macombs Road, Bronx, N.Y. on May 17, 1970.

Bishop Gooding was consecrated to the Bishopric by the late Bishop F.D. Washington on October 28, 1984. Known as the “Radio Preacher” for 19 years, Bishop Gooding was the recipient of numerous honors and awards. He was a “sought after” guest speaker and counselor. By his obedience to God, his path has been blessed miraculously and his desire to was to see many souls born into the “Kingdom of God”.

Bishop Gooding fought a good fight, finished his course and kept the faith.

On Wednesday, April 2, 2014, Bishop went home to be with the Lord….. heaven is rejoicing.
